Moose: The Story of a Very Special Person
Published in Paperback by Brookline Books (November, 1992)
Authors: W. Scott MacDonald, Chester W. Oden, and Scott MacDonald
Average review score:

A touching story of a boy with Downs
I read this book many years ago, but still remember vividly how touched I was by the author's sensitive and loving description of the life of his son (the subject of the book). It is a poignant tale of one family and how they have come to deal with Downs Syndrome. I was especially impressed by the fact that this family chose to keep their child and raise him, rather than institutionalizing him, as so often (tragically) happens. This book renews one's faith in the values of responsibility, love and family.

Morris and Boris
Published in Hardcover by Putnam Pub Group Juv (February, 1991)
Author: Bernard Wiseman
Average review score:

A childhood favorite
This book about a moose and a bear is a childhood favorite of mine and my sisters'. The relationship between Morris and Borris is very funny. Morris is very silly and Borris is very serious. Borris always gets very frustrated with Morris. However, they always seem to solve their differences and remain good friends in a very funny way. Their relationship reminds me alot of Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street.

Excellent humor for the early grades
How my brother and I enjoyed the Morris and Boris books when we were children. We laughed uproariously. My husband also was a big fan of the series when he was a child. I am happy to see that at least one book of the series is in print.

Morris Tells Boris Mother Moose Stories and Rhymes
Published in Paperback by Scholastic (June, 1980)
Author: Bernard Wiseman

A Moose and a Bear
I read "Morris Tells Boris Mother Moose Stories and Rhymes" by Bernard Wiseman with my big brother. I liked that book very much. It's very funny. I liked the part where Morris the Moose tells Boris the Bear a story about four bears, putting Boris in the story, of course. The part that made me laugh was when Morris calls Boris a big fat bear in his story, and Boris shouts, "A WHAT???" Morris and Boris are an entertaining duo. I sure hope to have this book some day.

Great Book For Learning To Read
This was the first book I learned to read. The words are very easy and not long. Morris will keep you reading to find out what is going to happen next. I totally recommend this book for younger kids and I also recommend it to be one of the first books kids read.

Author: Lora S. Irish
Average review score:

An old time woodworker
I am always looking for patterns to cut on my scroll saw and I must say I am really picky about the designs I decide to cut. I purchased this book for the wildlife designs and they are all top notch. You will not be disappointed with the quality Lora Irish, puts into her designs. I highly recommend this book. Its worth double its cost.

Olympic Moose Salami and Other Lillehammer Tales
Published in Paperback by Madison Newspapers (November, 1900)
Author: George Hesselberg
Average review score:

Best articles of the inside-story of the Lillehammer Games
Author Hesselberg writes as a news journalist from Madison, Wisconsin. These are his finest collection of pieces of the '94 Winter Games; most written from Lillehammer during the two weeks of the games.

It's greatest emphasis is on what happens behind the scenes. For human interest stories and tidbits of trivia, it would be difficult, if not impossible to beat. It's what we would notice had we been there in February 1994. Lots of neat stories, street activity, town buzz, rumors and inside the press center w/Hesselberg. A typical author reporting would be of Hesselberg telling us of the Norwegian responsible for periodically removing the porta-johnny's 50lbs. of frozen human waste from the top of the downhill run and skiing with it downhill for ultimate disposal. Too, told in the finest upper-midwest manner.

Keeps the Winter spirit alive all year. Good book. Some images and photos.

Return To Iwo Jima + 50
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (01 September, 2000)
Author: Robert F. Moose Maiden
Average review score:

Outstanding
Robert Maiden's outstanding memoir provides an unparalleled foxhole view of the battle of Iwo Jima. Beginning with Paramarine training, this well put together memoir chronicles his journey through WWII capturing the hell of the Pacific's worst battle. The book then moves through the post-war years to Korea, culminating with the landings at Inchon. Maiden later serves in Vietnam. I highly recommend Return from Iwo Jima because it's written by a true hero and patriot.
